The education our parents give us and the society where we live in shapes our way of thinking. Creates ideas of what reality is. Except that reality is different from person to person. It’s built based in values, ideas, beliefs of how life is supposed to be, passed by our parents, our parents’ parents, family, friends, society in general, interpretations we make of situations, often confusing and limiting. And that reality doesn’t always favor us or help us in expressing ourselves. Most of the time, imprisons us. However, we do it for safety. We accept all those rules, beliefs, concepts, because they make us feel safe. It’s like living in a Golden Cage. It gives us safety, protects us but also limits us and prevents us from being free, from gaining wings and from flying away.

In this cage, we’re the ones who set the rules. We attract our life situations according to that structure. What doesn’t agree with this structure, we simply do not accept in our reality, we do not see it. In a simpler way, if we believe that the world is blue we will just be noticing what is blue, because we don’t know any other colors. We only recognize what we know, what we belief. Because everything else doesn’t glow the same way, doesn’t stand out to our eyes. It’s very easy to verify this. For instance, imagine you buy a new car model. A model that until that moment you didn’t know it existed or had never noticed it. From the moment you buy it and drive it, you begin to notice that, after all, many people drive the same model. That only happens because you’ve accepted this new car model into your reality. Reality confirms that acceptance, bringing more of the same. And it’s possible to do this with beliefs, ideas, values etc.

When a belief is changed, reality confirms that, bringing situations that confirm that new belief.

Our reality is the filter through which we view life happening. For some, reality is pink, for others is yellow, and others, black. That’s why for many of us life seems to be easier than for others. What makes life more or less easy is the filter through which we view life, our structure of beliefs, values, concepts, etc. Our Golden Cage.

To free ourselves from our Golden Cage is a fundamental step to reach our happiness, our true expression.
